INTRO

I am creating this blog to discuss critical issues of our faith. Apologetics is a vindication, a formal defense of the Faith in speech or writing. Apologetics seeks to defend the faith against internal threats (false theology, unscriptural worldviews, heresy) as well as external threats (false religions, governmental opposition, secularism, materialism.) I've always thought that the threat from within is the most dangerous. That potential is never more frightening than when an external threat becomes internal, when the world and the church become indistinguishable. It happened in ancient Israel. It happens today. A very wise pastor once said that the point of the Old Testament is not that it happened, but that it happens. Scripture is not merely the history of our faith, it is the history of human nature, of our nature.

Throughout Scripture we see that Israel is impenetrable when they humbly follow the Lord. When they compromise, when they adopt the world’s standards as their own, their destruction soon follows. In particular, this blog will focus on some of those areas where the church and the world have failed to have the distinct separation that God requires. We will carefully consider those places where the church, or part of the church, may be crossing the line of being not only “in” the world, but “of” the world. Let us take care to insure that we are not being led away from our “pure and simple devotion to Christ, just as Eve was deceived by the serpent.” (2 Corinthians 11:3)

I am thrilled for anyone to participate in these discussions. But I must add that this blog is specifically designed for Christians to examine their beliefs and practices in light of Scripture. Let’s ask some serious questions. What is our worldview? Is it Biblical? And is it consistent with our actions?

I suppose that we could leave this branch of study to the experts. At the very least I hope to consult them. But Paul admonishes Believers in 1 Peter 3:15, “If you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.” (NLT) This exercise of Christian study has always burned inside my heart. I have a passion to know what I believe and why I believe it. It’s not enough to say, “I think that it’s in the Good Book somewhere.” I am not a theologian or a historian. My formal education contains some of these disciplines; primarily it is in other areas. But I am a life-long student of the Scriptures. I want to provide a solid Biblical framework in which to study the vitally important topics of our day. I am seeking to marry my worldview with my faith. Sometimes I will hit the mark. Sometimes I may miss it. But there is merit in the exercise. I hope to learn, to share and to be challenged by your wisdom.

This blog will be political. It will be controversial. And it will be respectful. You may be challenged. You may even be offended. A very perceptive friend once told me that the Gospel is the most offensive book ever written. I was taken aback by his statement. I cried, “No! It is the most loving book ever written!” But his words stuck with me. And upon much reflection, I realized that he was right. And I was right. We were both right.

The Gospel is the greatest love story ever told. It’s the story of God, the mighty Creator of the universe and all that it contains. This God of infinite wisdom and imagination found at the end of His magnum opus, that He was… lonely. So He created mankind for friendship, for fellowship, for love. But imperfect man could not meet His impossibly high standards. So God lowered Himself. He left His home in the celestial sphere and became as one of His created beings. He became the poorest of men and suffered the cruelest of fates in order to reestablish that relationship. Such a story of love was never told!

But… the story also offends. It offends every part of our flesh. It says we aren’t good enough on our own to please this God who created us. It says that we need the strength of Someone stronger, purer, better. It lays bare our sin, and our shame. But at the very moment of our epiphany, at the instant we finally recognize the depths of our depravity, of our disgrace—His grace swoops in on ethereal plumes and covers us with a Love so great that is mends the very wounds that it unveils. What a Book! How I love it. Offense may come as God’s Word uncovers what we thought was hidden, but then it heals all that it reveals.

So thank you for stopping by. I hope you will stick around. I want to make this an interactive blog (as much as possible). Your response may change my perspective. My thoughts may change yours. At times our collective effort will help us to both arrive closer to His Truth. At times we will have to agree to disagree. But there is always merit in the exercise, in the challenge of deeply held convictions to alter, deepen and solidify the “defense of our Faith.” “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). So, “Come now, and let us reason together” (Isaiah 1:18). I hope to find a community of Believers committed to finding God’s Truth for the salient issues of our day. If what I write about doesn’t help you, then I pray that you find His Truth elsewhere on your journey. God bless.

  1. Let's consider whether or not God created the heavens and the earth and all life therein because He was lonely.

I believe God is totally fulfilled in who He is, and is therefore "not lonely." I believe God is the only ONE who is totally fulfilled in who He is, and needs nothing or no one else to find or bring Him fulfillment.

Man on the other hand is not fulfilled in who he is, and thereby seeks to find fulfillment in all manner of endeavors, with or without his Creator/Redeemer.

The Shorter Catechism asks this question: "What is the chief aim of Man?", and provides this answer, "To glorify God and enjoy Him forever." To glorify God, one must first accept God's Redeemer - the Lord Jesus Christ. To enjoy God forever, one must enter into a lifelong journey of seeking and finding "union with God."

  2. That's an interesting point. Perhaps God wasn't lonely. We have a tendency to personify God, to attribute human needs and characteristics to Him. We see (repeatedly) throughout the OT that God is loving, compassionate, even angry. He does possess emotions that we identify with. So was emotion absent from the creation? Surely not. Perhaps need was absent. Perhaps He did not need fellowship. But He certainly desired it. To say that He is "lonely" is somewhat of a literary construct to help us identify with Him. But perhaps it is not correct to say that God created man out of lonliness or need. We should say, then, that God created us out of passion and desire, and not loneliness. Good thought.

  3. Psa 115:16 says this: "The heavens are the heavens of the LORD, but the earth He has given to the sons of men."

I believe God created the earth to provide a place for the sons of men to dwell and find fulfullment in knowing/serving God. Heb 12:2 says "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Yes, God is an emotional God, full of passion and desire, and the joy set before Christ was seeing beyond the cross to the many many sons and daughters that would be born into the kingdom of God thru Him. God created us out of a desire to have many redeemed sons and daughters live with Him throughout all eternity.

"good stuff, bay. I've never felt compelled to ask these questions. I've just always accepted and loved. And come Jimmy Swaggert or Ted Haggert--hey--their names rhyme. wow. A clue, perhaps?--I just keep on feeling exactly the same way.

No one meets my needs like God. No one doesn't ever disappoint me like God. No one can keep holding on to me when I've let everyone including myself down like God. And I feel like I've never understood anyone like I understand God.

I only hope to pass this on to my girls. I'm not really sure how I got where I am in my faith. I'm really not... You and I both know how many we've seen raised exactly like us who are exactly NOT where we are. It's puzzling why some get it and others turn away. I don't understand that part of the story."

  6. Leigh and others,

So glad to see you here. Accepting and loving is paramount in our Christian walk. It clearly takes precedence. But guarding the purity of our faith is of vital importance as well. You asked why the faith sticks with some people and not with others. Great question! Why do some people “get it” while others don’t? That example is played out over and over throughout Scripture. It’s like a broken record. Abel got it, Cain didn’t. Jacob got it, Esau didn’t. Joseph got it, his brothers didn’t. David got it, Saul didn’t. Eleven apostles got it, one didn’t. The interesting thing is, both sides of these pairs knew what to do (at some point), but only one side did it. The difference isn’t in the knowing, but in the doing.

That is very reason I created this website. That is the very issue inherent in my introductory questions: What is our worldview? Is it Biblical? Is it consistent with our actions? You asked why some people who started off right, now don’t “get it.” Well, those who don’t “get it” have either lapsed into unbiblical world view, or their worldview is inconsistent with their actions.

The reference from 2 Corinthians 11:3 is very sobering. It is possible to have a “pure and simple devotion to Christ,” and to be led away into deception. I have been there. I went through a period of wandering from the Faith in my late 20’s and early 30’s. Thing is, I had NO IDEA that I was wandering. I took so many tiny little steps away from the Truth, all the while going to church and spending time almost daily in the Word and in prayer. How is that possible? I allowed myself to be deceived. I compromised on this issue, I bowed out on that one. I slipped from the standard set in Scripture here, and then there. At first I was convicted, but over time that faded. Then I found ways to justify my sinful behavior. It wasn’t sin anymore. It was acceptable because of my particular calling. Then I began to preach to others about why my lifestyle was acceptable. I became an evangelist for my own little brand of theology. God finally got a hold of me and gave me a much needed spiritual spanking. And thankfully, I repented.

My personal experience of wandering is why I am so passionate about this blog. I want to discuss those issues where we may have compromised here and slacked off there. Because when we start down that road with our tiny little steps, we wake up one day to find ourselves so very far from the standard that God gave us in His Word. It is a lure, a danger that we all face. This blog is designed to ask the all important question: “Have we fallen for the bait?”

  7. Why do some people get it and others don't?

For me it was five little words from Phil 3:10 that set my heart on a lifelong course on which I am still passionately traveling - "that I might know Him."

In 1971 when were living in San Jose CA, I was marvelously filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Shortly after that we started attending an Evangelical Free Church. The Lord brought to my rememberance this song before we visited the church for the first time:

    "Turn your eyes on Jesus,
look full in His wonderful face,
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
in the light of His glory and grace."

As we walked in the church for the first time, they were singing this song. A few days later several members of this church visited us in our home, and they shared Phil 3:10 with us which has become my lifelong pursuit. Phil 3:10 goes on to say, "and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death."

Has life since 1971 always been easy? No it hasn't, and in some ways it has been harder. The flesh does not like to be conformed to His death. The Ishmael in me has cried out many times for life (Gen 17:18). The upward call of knowing Him will take us thru many valleys, and PTL to many mountaintops. Now days I have many more of the latter than the former. Life is too short to waste any of our sorrows.

    Blessings

  8. From Lisa on Facebook:

Catherine. This a a good thing you are doing. As Christians we should be able to share with others the reason for the hope that is within us. Jude 3"...I...exhort you that you all should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."
Have you heard of the ministry Answers in Genesis? My husband and I, recently went to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. What a great place to encourage Christians to be defenders of the faith, and most importantly to give an anwer for what we believe. There are a lot of great resources available through this minsitry for Christians and their children to understand a biblical worldview that starts with Genesis. I highly encourge all Christians to learn more about this ministry and utilize its resources. (Had to put in a plug for this ministry, because they are big on apologetics).
I am finding it is true that many people have difficulty understanding the gospel, because of their current worldview. ( Personal experience through door to door/visitation evangelism). People are looking at the Bible from a worldly perspective. How does the Bible fit into the worldview? Instead, we need to look at the world through the Bible. (Ken Ham,Creation Apologetics author/speaker, calls it putting on our biblical glasses). What one believes about Genesis is essential. How does a person know they need Jesus (salvation) if they don't belive in sin or believe that they are sinners? Let me share with you this quote from the book "Why Won't They Listen," by Ken Ham. "...one cannot really understand the good news in the New Testament of Jesus' death and resurrection, and thus the payment for sin, until one understands the bad news in Genesis of the fall of man, and thus the origin of sin and its penalty of death."

    ReplyDelete
  9. Awsome information, Lisa. Thanks for taking the time to share that! You are so right. Many Believer try to fit Scripture into a secular world view, rather than fitting their worldview into Scripture. Genesis is certainly the best starting point to find a Godly worldview. Love that quote by Ken Ham. May need to use that one day. I'd love to check out the Creation museum some day too. Sounds fascinating. Hope you will keep up with the blog. I want to reach people in many different places in their walk. Having you around would be a great help!

  10. It's one thing to understand good news in the New Testament of Jesus' death and resurrection, the payment for sin, the bad news in Genesis of the fall of man, the origin of sin and its penalty of death. Where we sometimes get into trouble is insisting that the Bible is a book of science, when it is not. The Bible does not disagree with true science, nor true science with the Bible, but

"God has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end (Eccles 3:11)."

  12. John 10:10 I think some of the bloggers have been involved in an on going post on Face Book...
You may want to pray for a person who posts there as Peter. I myself enjoy discussion and debate an exchange of ideas. That being said in keeping with the theme of the Christian as a soldier... I wonder if perhaps part of the difficulty the world has in seeing the Body of Christ clearly is that we fail to wear our uniform properly...Just for Starters Eph 6:14-
Stand therefore having your loins girt about with TRUTH (emphasis mine)and having on the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS (emphasis mine.

Have we exchanged girding with TRUTH for what the world tells us is true?

Have we removed a breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS and traded it for a right or left voting switch?

Example of the difference between true and TRUTH
It could be said and would be true that I am sitting down facing forward. what is true is often the simple observation. The TRUTH homever is that I am on a rock spinning around a star constantly moving my position....The TRUTH is also that I am seated with Christ in heavanl places...Simple appearance or Grand Design..Big difference

A breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS.... or the right or left voting switch....Our life should be should be so obviously different just as different as the Breastplate of a centurion differed from the armor of a goth. You cou tell very quickly whose side each was on by the armor
Before anyone thinks I mean your clothing I don't. Most of us can tell a genuine smile from a fake, the real one touches theyes the fake never leaves the lips. How we stand or slouch should make it obvious whose armor we are wearing and if we are dressed for the battle or ditching the duds and running. Comments? Agree? Disagree? Take the short bald one to the edge of the blog and stone him?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yes, some would post comments to Catherine's blog on Catherine's facebook, and she would have to re-post them here. I'm not much into facebook, so I don't keep up with what goes on there. I keep up with several other blogs/forums that I participate in, and I prefer this means of sharing "the TRUTH" with those who respond in these blogs/forums.

I agree totally with what you said concerning what is true and what is truth. Many read the Bible failing to discern the difference between the two. There are many true events and bad behaviors that are reported in the Bible, yet some take these events and bad behaviors as though God condons them as TRUTH, rather than understanding they were given as examples for our instruction in righteousness - how we ought to live.

It's interesting that "having girded our loins with TRUTH" is the first piece of the armor, without which all other armor pieces will have little to no maturing affect on Christians. I believe this is why we can "see" so little of the armor on many Christians. Many Christians struggle with righteousness/right living, peace, faith and salvation all their lives, without fully recognizing that girding our loins with TRUTH comes first, then the other armor peices will follow in like measure to the TRUTH we have girded ourselves with.

    Blessings

  14. Thanks for the development...I am glad that others see that true and TRUTH are far from the same thing. I very much agree that TRUTH must be the first piece...Even before the helmet of salvation....How can we recieve Salvation if we have not first known the TRUTH that "sets you free". Father in heaven please save us from recent voices that have sted from pulpits that
individual salvation is a heretical doctrine.
While I MIGHT agree that too many push just a short prayer and sign a card and you are on your way...The article I read was from an Episcopal Bishop that felt a worded prayer to Jesus was not
Good enough....That ignores Romans "If you shal confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in your heart that God has rasied Him from the Dead. You shall be saved." That scripture does not leave much room to be ignored as the first step the soldier takes. Now we have Bishops denying this...Not a good direction.

  16. Confessing that Jesus is Lord and really meaning it is the key to salvation that's in Jesus. Paul thought he was the best Jew that had ever lived, a Pharisee that lived perfectly accordingly to the law. Then he met Someone on the Road to Damascus that knocked him to the ground, blinded his eyes, and spoke to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" Paul knew he was in the presence of the Lord God of heaven, and had the presence of mind to ask the right question, "Who are You, Lord?" When the voice responded, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting," Paul's life was forever changed into a lifelong pursuit of following his Lord, Master and Redeemer. Paul got up, entered the city, was told he must do (Acts 9:6), and Christianity has never been the same from that conversion forward. Every Christian that has ever lived owes a debt of gratitude to this one man who surrendered his life to the Lord, did what he was told to do, and wrote the most significant parts of the New Covenant relationship Christians have with our Lord.

  17. Agreed! Vey much like God to take a person bent on murder...Confront them with the Truth and turn the world on its ear!How many of us can admit that we were"chief among sinners". How has God used that to allow His Spirit to reach to places we would have unworthy. Just as the Gentile was considered unworthy and at best a non Jew could be considered a "God fearer". One that recognized the God of Israel but was not of the physical seed of Abraham. We may consider ourselves far removed from that early movement called "The Way" and then in Antioch "Christians"
But consider this...We are still called to share the Gospel-"Good News" We are still not always popular with the rulers of the age. We still fight against heresy in our own house. We also are given power to be witnesses. We still have the weapons of warfare. We also have what the early Church did not. The collected God Inspired written Word, that includes both covenants for us to read consume and grow from.It is my sincere hope that others will be joining us again soon..."Iron sharpens Iron"

  18. The early Church may not have had the completed cannon of Scripture to instruct, guard, guide and correct Believers in the paths of righteousness, but I believe they had something more vibrant that seems to missing in much of the Church today. When the early Church seemed to be in trouble concerning the faith, the Holy Spirit seemed to give them clear directions as to how to resolve doctrinal matters, as happened in Acts 15,

    8 "And God, who knows the heart, testified to them giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us;
9 and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.
28 "For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials:
29 that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well.

Jesus declares this in John 10:27,

"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me."

I am acused many times of saying something very dangerous when I tell Christians that one can hear Jesus speaking to them. Unbelievers say much worse concerning the words of Jesus.

  19. Anyone want to discuss creation vs evolution? I just posted the following on a forum I participate in:

The science that can be tested and verified to a high degree of accuracy in a laboratory is the science that produces scientific facts that enable mankind to do all manner of creative endeavours.

A laboratory can be big or small. But whether it's big or small, theories that become scientific facts are validated as being true to a high degree of accuracy. The ToE can never be validated as being true to a high degree of accuracy because of the billions of years time factor needed to validate this theory. For this reason, true scientific studies and their validation facts are primarily limited to time factors that can be measured in a laboratory, or within man's normal life span.

I believe in the energy sciences and all other sciences that have been validated to a high degree of accuracy in a laboratory from start to finish. I have worked in the energy business for 45 years, both fossil and nuclear, taking the scientific facts of how the energy of atoms can be harnessed, engineering these scientific facts into electric energy for the good of mankind, and even into nuclear weapons that can be used for the destruction of mankind.

Man, whom God created in His image, was given the ability to be creative. Man has been delving into the wonders of God’s creation and the life He created ever since God created man telling man to be “fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule” (Gen 1:28a). Man has done a pretty good job learning the scientific facts that have allowed man to subdue the earth. Many honor God for allowing them to discover and use the scientific facts of His creation, and many do not. But because of man’s sin/self-centered nature, many of those who do not honor God as Creator have done a lousy job ruling “over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Gen 1:28b).

I do not believe in a so-called science that tells man he evolved from lower life animals that started billions of years ago from a single cell creature, even if some want to attribute and call this process “theistic evolution.” God has revealed in His Word that all plants and animals were created “after their own kind” (Gen 1), which means they did not evolve from one species to another to another. Depending on the environmental conditions that have existed on the earth since God created the earth some 4.5 billion years ago, the earth was not ready for God to create fully formed creatures until the Cambrian period some 500+ million years ago. After each major extinction period, God continued to create various pants and animals suitable for life on earth. Science tells us that the last extinction period occurred some 75,000 years ago. Science now tells us that the DNA structure of present day man can be traced back to a beginning which occurred less than 75,000 years ago.

This is the science that I know, believe in, and have used all of my life. This is the true science that those who know their God have participated in since God created present day man less that 75,000 years ago. Those who want to believe in a unproven pseudo-science that says man has evolved over billions/millions of years may do so, but you so to your detriment, even if you want to attribute some of this to theistic evolution. If some Christians want to believe in God’s creation that began just a few thousand years ago, at least they attribute everything to God’s creative power. But if theistic evolution is true, it must line up with God’s Word, and it DOES NOT. When man compromises God’s Word, man not only compromises his ability to have a right relationship with God, man usually rejects God’s means to God’s redemption in the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s as simple and as difficult as that.

  21. Run nation like a business and protect ‘stockholders’?

Let me tell you why the government can never be run like a business! I worked for the government (DOE) for 9 years, and here’s your government in action. When I went to work at Savannah River Site (SRS) in 1988, about 9000 workers were on the payroll. Dupont was giving up their management of the plant because DOE no longer was going to allow Dupont to run the plant as a Dupont plant. In 1989 Westinghouse took overall management of SRS. With DOE’s desire to micro-manage how Westinghouse ran the plant, by 1992, about 27,000 workers were on the payroll. As the reality of the cold war set in, the work force was then reduced to 14,000 by 1997. During most of this time I worked on a fast-track project that was supposed to take 2 years and cost 3 million dollars. 7 years and 200 million dollars later, the project was mercilessly cancelled.

Government has no concept of how to run it’s affairs like a business, with cost-schedule-service-profit as primary business factors. What’s a little 1.42 trillion deficit got to do with efficiency? There is little incentive to be creative and industrious in its endeavors. Many gifted and talented people work for government, but are overshadowed by bureaucratic red tape and incompetent bureaucrats. So many government workers settle in for the gravy train ride, playing the game of how to justify, maintain and expand their existence, ever increasing the cost of government. A few government workers remain within the system, hoping to be catalysts for real change. When I finally left government service, it took me 3-4 years before I regained my engineering skills and was able to function again in the real world of competitive/profit business.

Until government truly places # 1 priority on getting and allowing “for profit businesses” to become and be the economic engine that stimulates and provides our economic health, incorporating businesses (banks, cars, health, cap & trade) into the government run system is a recipe for failure.

Is anybody listening, or is it too late to care?

  22. Greetings,
listening yes, very much so to the point of concerned about government "out growing " it's people. It is already too big too do it's job without massive waste and almost laughable losses. I regret that I am plaing catch up with posts. I have been in and out of the hospital. Lord willing I will be out more than in and able to keep a good pace. Your real life example is something that only our government could do. I am glad you were able to regain your competitive edge....That is ( in my opinion) what makes or breaks the deal in a free market...Competition....In a world where we are dumbing down everything from no competition for sports or academics. Some schools have no competitive sports and no honor roll.We are teaching that mediocre is the goal. Did you know that most schools no longer teach cursive...The idea is that because of computers (perhaps too much twitter and facebook?) cursive is not needed. What does cursive have to do with free markets and success? Discipline. I remember the hours I spent mastering the letters for cursive and the sense of reward when I brought my handwriting up enough to make the honor roll. That taught me that hard work and applying oneself to a task to bring rewards. What does the current "bail out" mentality teach? If you do a job poorly enough , long enough, the government will buy you out. This is sad when you think of people that have labored very hard very long to build something only to watch a socialist everybody deserves a piece of your pie government take it away. Some do care, some are listening only God knows if we are too late to pull back from the edge or if this is the opening for a one world one economy system because our system "failed". It would be more true to say it is being buried and that is what is killing it.

  23. I returned a few weeks ago from a conference where one of the speakers made this statement:

"Dallas is the most Christianized and the least transformed city in America!"

When the gospel of the kingdom of God truly penetrates the society where we live, it will transform our culture and way of life - from the top to the bottom, from the White House to the houses where we live, from Wall Street to Main Street, from the cities to the farms, from the saloons to the churches.

Pray for REVIVAL and HEALING to come to our land (2 Chron 7:14), but repentance must come first.

  24. The only area I would disagree is the location he spoke of...I also live in a city bathed in Churchianity and missing the New direction taken by the road of repentance. The phrase "You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a minister"would fit this city . So would "Rotted whitened sepelchures".Repentance must come first I agree. That is a doctrinal truth.A direction for prayer for al of the nation might be for all of us to see our sin as God sees sin. To see the horror that is the "walking dead" a person who has not repented of their sin. Each night I pray that God will show where I have fallen short of His Glory...So that I might repent of my failure and witness to others of His Power and His desire that "None should perish but that all would come to repentance." Will they? Sadly no but that only makes the charge given to us to share the Gospel even more serious. If we share the Gospel both in quotes and in lifestyle we open the door for the Ministry of the Holy Spirit
to draw people unto the Son (if we are lifting Him up) this continues our mission. Now in the presence of the Saviour they are both appalled by sin (if repentance has and is occuring) They are also drawn in by the Love of God which is in Christ. Jesus can then present them to the Father who can call them His royal priesthood His chosen generation. Then the balm of Gilead can bring soothing unto the wounds of a hurting world. God has not yet given up...Are we better than God to say it is time to wrap it up? No heaven forbid such an idea. That is the other great sin that seems to grip the churches of today complacency...We are happy being keepers of the aquarium and not fishers of men.Well John10:10 you obviously struck the right cord with me. The challenge in this blog seems to be that we agree on most of the basics which makes for good building from post to post. My hope is that others will join us...

  25. After participating in several forums for about a decade that discuss the things of God and the truth of Scripture, I am becoming more and more convinced that the truth of 2 Tim 3:7 is becoming the norm among most who call themselves Christian,

"always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

According to this Barna poll, only 9% of Americans and 19% of born-again Christians have a Biblical world view,

    http://www.barna.org:80/barna-update/article/21-transformation/252-barna-survey-examines-changes-in-worldview-among-christians-over-the-past-13-years

To have a Biblical world view, one must agree that the following statements are true:

    (1) Absolute moral truth exists;
    (2) the Bible is totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches;
    (3) Satan is considered to be a real being or force, not merely symbolic;
    (4) a person cannot earn their way into Heaven by trying to be good or do good works;
    (5) Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth; and
    (6) God is the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the world who still rules the universe today.

I could add several more truths that I believe are essential in order to have a Biblical world view, but these six statements should not be that difficult to agree with if one is a true born-again Christian. This tells me that most churches are filled with pew sitters that know not the living reality of the indwelling Christ thru the gift of God's Holy Spirit, and the truth He imparts to those who are able to hear His voice.

John 10:27-28 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand."
